Useful platform, small navigation issue

I got an annual subscription to access their Cloud Computing and AWS Certification content. The depth of the courses and the availability of audiobooks were definitely positives. It's a solid value for the amount of material you get. Delivery of the digital content was immediate, which was expected. However, I found navigating some of the older sections of the platform a little less intuitive than the newer ones; sometimes it was hard to find specific videos related to a book. Customer service was responsive when I inquired about a specific course path. Overall, a good experience, just a minor snag with finding some content.

Good videos, easy to use

Needed to brush up on some React Training for a new project. Found a bunch of good on-demand videos on O'Reilly. Interface was pretty straightforward. Just signed up, watched what I needed, no fuss. Felt pretty good about it.

Always reliable content

I've used O'Reilly for years now, mostly for their Python and Data Science content. My recent renewal for the Learning Platform was as smooth as ever. The quality of the Live Online Training and the e-books is consistently high. It's why I keep coming back, really.

Solid learning resource, good support

I signed up for the Learning Platform to dig into some more advanced Machine Learning Models. The ordering process was simple, and I started my subscription right away. I specifically liked the Interactive Learning modules and the Sandbox Environments for practicing. I had a small question about exporting notes, and their customer support got back to me within a day with a clear answer. Delivery for digital content is obviously instant, but the overall experience felt well-managed. The variety of content, from E-books to Certification Prep, is impressive, and the quality of the instructors for the online courses I took was high.

Got a promo code from somewhere, where do I actually enter that when I'm signing up?

N Neil 1 month ago
Usually, there's a field for it during checkout, sometimes it's like 'have a promo code?' or 'apply discount'. Can't miss it.

Look for it on the payment page before you finalize the subscription. It's usually a small link or a box to type it in.

Can you actually download books from O'Reilly for offline reading? My commute has terrible signal.

N Nick P. 1 month ago
Yep, you can download them through their app. Super handy for flights or, like you said, areas with no internet.

I've downloaded a bunch of their ebooks to my tablet. Works fine for offline access, definitely a plus.

i'm looking into getting an O'Reilly subscription but i'm also eyeing Coursera. anyone have thoughts on how O'Reilly compares, especially for actual job skills?

J Josh Vargas 1 month ago
O'Reilly is more for continuous learning and deep dives into specific tech topics, often with practical examples and sandbox environments. Coursera is more structured courses, sometimes with university certs.

L Laura Romero 1 month ago
Totally depends what you're after. O'Reilly has a huge library of books and videos for when you need to look something up fast, like a dev reference. Coursera feels more like going to school.

Are the live training sessions included in the regular individual subscription, or is that extra?

F Faith T. 1 month ago
They are included! It's one of the best parts of the subscription, especially for the price.

S Sophie 1 month ago
Most of them are. Sometimes there are special events that might be extra, but for the typical live training, it's all part of the package.

My company is thinking about a team account. Does O'Reilly do custom pricing for that kind of thing, or is it just set tiers?

E Elena N. 2 months ago
They definitely do custom pricing for teams/enterprise. My previous job had an O'Reilly account and it was all custom based on our user count and needs.

Pretty sure you can get a quote for enterprise stuff. They wouldn't have set tiers for large groups, too much variation in needs.

If I sign up for the annual subscription, can I pay monthly, or do I have to pay for the whole year upfront?

G Greg 1 month ago
I think for the annual, it's usually one upfront payment to get the discount. Monthly is an option, but it's typically more expensive over the year.

M Mia 1 month ago
They do offer monthly billing, but you miss out on the annual discount if you go that route, afaik.

hey, trying to figure out if it's worth it. what's the deal with the free trial for O'Reilly? is it pretty full-featured?

J Josh Carter 1 month ago
Yeah, the free trial is actually really good. You get access to pretty much everything for 10 days, like all the books and videos. It's not some gimped version.

just saw a Black Friday ad for something similar, does O'Reilly usually have good sales around Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

A Anna 2 months ago
Oh yeah, they almost always have a good deal then, usually a percentage off the annual plan. That's when I renewed last time.

Definitely keep an eye out. Those are prime times for their bigger discounts.
